The Smart Feeder - Stanchion Barn Feeder

HOW IT WORKS
The SMART FEEDER runs on a monorail suspended from the beams in the barn. The SMART FEEDER is battery powered and contains its own “SMART” Control Unit.

At preset times, or by manual start, the SMART FEEDER sets off from its “home” position and travels to the first cow. Here, the SMART FEEDER stops. Tapered augers in the feed hopper deliver feed to the discharge conveyor. The first cow’s own ration of feed is precisely measured by weight. When the exact amount of feed has been weighed, the auger stops and the conveyor delivers the feed to the cow.

Feed #1 is dispensed, then Feed #2, and finally Feed #3 (optional). The SMART FEEDER then moves to the next cow and repeats the procedure. At the end of the monorail, the SMART FEEDER automatically reverses direction. Automatic switches can control the SMART FEEDER through complex layouts. After the last cow is fed, the SMART FEEDER returns to home base and automatically hooks itself into a battery charger.

ACCURATE RATIONS
Under the feed conveyor a load cell measures every portion accurately. After each ration, the load cell automatically resets to zero. Accuracy is not affected if a little feed sticks to the conveyor.

FREQUENT FEEDING
The SMART FEEDER will feed automatically at up to 6 preset times a day. Frequent, regular feeding improves digestion. The hopper carries enough feed for 80 cows for 1 day.
At “home” position, the hopper can be filled automatically.
